Bored with the same old, same old, and looking for a change this summer?

If you are looking for something to do, or want to branch out into a new activity with your horse this summer, you may have just stumbled across the right article. If you are a competitor for a living, changing it up is probably not something on your list of priorities, however, there are a number of different ideas in the list below that you could try to give both your horse and yourself a bit of R & R time.

SUMMER WITH A DIFFERENT VIBE

Get a bunch of friends together and book a cabin somewhere that you can have your horse and go trail riding, preferably somewhere you have never been before. It’s a great way to catch up with everyone, take some time out and just enjoy riding your horse.
Do a dress-up photo shoot, pick a theme,invite your besties if you so wish, and dress your horses up too and just have fun with it. Not only should it be a great day, but you will have photos to last a lifetime.
Find a swimming hole if you don’t know of one already and start taking your horse for a swim, not only is this a form oftherapeutic exercise it is an ideal way for you and your pal to keep cool. If you’re on the road and competing regularly, finding facilities along the road that have this type of service, is a great way to give your horses' joints awell-deserved rest and maintain a level of fitness at the same time.
Wanting to try a new discipline? Why not book yourself into a Clinic with someone that is already competing in that genre and decide if it is something you want to pursue. In any case, if you decide that it isn’t for you, you will undoubtedly learn something new which always makes it worthwhile.
Join a local riding club, meet some new friends and go on some new adventures.
Teach yourself and your horse a trick. The list of possibilities is endless, and you can either research how to teach the trick on the internet with YouTube being an option, or you could catch twobirds at the same time and go to a local or nearby Clinic / come try day and learn from someone else first hand.
Create your own obstacle course at home and give your horse something new to think about. Already have an obstacle course? Why not change things up a bit, move objects around and introduce some new ones…
